A Letter from Holy Name's Executive Director
Meet Our Staff
Dear Friends of Holy Name Housing Corporation,
Holy Name Housing Corporation is a success story that can be documented statistically: homes constructed and renovated, families enabled to be the first homeowners, the physical appearance of the neighborhoods transformed, and a thirty-nine million dollar investment in the neighborhood; an investment multiplied by dollars and lender and consumer businesses, jobs in the construction industry and local government fees and taxes.
But these statistics do not tell the whole story. Holy Name Housing Corporation is a success story not because of the efforts of any one person but because good people got together saw a need and responded. Wise pundits have always reminded us that good results are not due to one person – it takes a village or a city, a nation or just a few good people.
In the HNHC story, success started with the persons who are and have been the staff of dedicated people, who grew up in North Omaha communities that were attractive, safe and nurturing, believed that other people deserved the same opportunity. Without much fanfare, the employees of HNHC became a community committed to rebuilding a neighborhood, one home at a time.
I’ve watched this community at work and witnessed the respect they have for one another, for everyone who calls or comes through the door in search of assistance, for subcontractors, for neighborhood residents and for the many partners HNHC needs to achieve its mission. The commitment of the staff of Holy Name Housing Corporation exceeds job requirements and seeks to develop the potential of everyone involved in the organization.
Those supporters who have assisted the staff over the years are too many to list but they form the extended community that is the story of HNHC. They reinforced the vision of HNHC, provided the professional and financial expertise to give substance to the vision, and recognized that HNHC’s credibility and commitment was as important as its very small bottom line. Board members of HNHC have and continue to provide not only professional expertise, but also the grassroots input essential to a viable community development project. These members are long time supporters of Holy Name Housing and rarely miss board meetings.
All of us who are part of the story of HNHC are appreciative of many blessings of time, talent and financial recourses we have received. We are sustained by the hope of a better community for all Omaha residents. We know this hope is alive in you, our friends.
Sincerely,
Sr. Marilyn Ross, Executive Director
